You get a +2 bonus on Perception skill checks. If you have 10 or more ranks in that skill, the bonus increases to +4.
Strategy[]
Alertness is strictly the worst Perception-boosting feat:
- Skill Focus (Perception) gives a +3 bonus that increases to +6 with 10 ranks.
- Persuasive gives the same +2/+4 bonus to Perception, but also grants a bonus to Persuasion.
- Canny Observer gives a +4 bonus to Perception regardless of how many ranks you have spent on the skill.
However, all of these feats stack with each other, so a truly dedicated spotter could get all four of them, for +18 to Perception just from feats.
