The village was once surrounded by sturdy palisade, but it seems the lizardfolk have had more interesting things to do than keep it in good repair. The spiked poles were probably pretty menacing a long time ago, but now they stand askew, half-rotted. In almost no time, we found a place where we could climb over the palisade without much risk of becoming that exotic but not so rare dish known as "jerked traveler on a stick."

Passed (Check_66963) Getting to the other side was easy. Our greatest worry was that the half-ruined palisade might fall under our weight.

Not Passed (Check_66963) The palisade proved to be more serious obstacle than we initially thought. We managed to get over it, but we were definitely introduced to more sharpened poles than we'd have liked! Unknown Effect

Just behind the palisade was a large sturdy hut. It didn't look to be a dwelling. Judging by the intricate carvings above the entrance, which depicted several very ugly muzzles, it was probably some sort of ritual building, like a temple or something. The entrance was covered by a drop-curtain of beads, and there were no guards. But from around the corner (shoot — what do you call that kind of thing if the hut's round? Never mind!) we heard clawed footsteps and hissing speech.

Lizardfolk Patrolman Seeing us, the lizardfolk raised their spears menacingly and hissed, "Freeze, warmbloods! How dare you come here, to the dwelling-place of the mysterious people, who, as Sigred from Oparra once wrote, might be even more ancient than elves? Explain yourselves, intruders, or our reprisal shall be swift and merciless!"
