Lander Lebeda is a character in Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Notes[]

Biography[]

Lander Lebeda is the seventeen year old heir and only son of House Lebeda of Brevoy, a prominent noble house known for its control of a large share of lake and river shipping. Lander’s father died when he was young and his only immediate relatives are his mother and his sister Elanna. His mother became the regent of the house while Lander was young, managing its affairs until he came of age. Lander feels estranged from his family and has a penchant for causing them trouble. Although when first met he has been of age for two years, he is reluctant to assume leadership of House Lebeda.

As a child Lander was used by a man he considered a friend and mentor as a source of intelligence for a group of bandits planning raids on his family’s caravan. He cites this betrayal as the reason for his mistrust of others. It is also implied in Varhold’s Lot and Wrath of the Righteous that Lander was kidnapped as a child and that the Varnling Host was hired to rescue him.

Lander became acquainted with Daeran Arendae at some point in his life prior to 2715 AR.

Prior to his appearance at Jamandi Aldori's mansion, Lander had been traveling Brevoy incognito. He claims that this was in order to better understand the lands and people he would one day rule.

Lander offers his services to the baron/baroness at the end of Stolen Land as an independent alternative to Kassil Aldori and Shandra Mervey as emissary. Initially, Lander refuses to disclose his background, only stressing that his youth in no way reflects upon his abilities as a statesman.

As a person, Lander is arrogant, callous, and often rash in his decision-making, though he has some talent for scheming and spycraft. Despite his professions of loyalty, he resents your authority over him.

Interactions[]

Lander can be appointed Regent. In this position, he will advocate for the interests of nobles and the crown against the common people and support allowing bandits to continue wandering the countryside so long as they give a cut of their take to you.

Annamede may mock him during her performance in the barony's capital if he has been recruited. He reacts to this with great distress, temporarily losing his normal dignified mode of presentation.

During Chapter 5, Lander will part ways with you in order to take the army to the front lines of the conflict with the Tiger Lords. Upon arriving at the battlefield, Lander sets up an ambush near the Tiger Lords' camp and attacks your party, claiming that he is more fit to rule the barony than a no-name commoner. He claims despite his actions that he considered you a friend and promises to emphasize the nobility of your sacrifice when the time comes to compose a history of his conquest of the Stolen Lands.

Jamandi will offer to return his body to avoid increasing hostilities with the Lebeda family, you can choose to deny this offer or hold his body for ransom. Whether returned freely or ransomed, if Lander is returned to his family he will be resurrected and return to the Kingdom in the final act offering his assistance which can be accepted or declined.

Trivia[]

  • In one of his throne room banters, Lander will advise you not to attend any wedding party thrown by a noble named Frey in the River Kingdoms. This is a reference to the Red Wedding in the popular novel series A Song of Ice and Fire.
