“ | Linzi… the Magnificent? Linzi the Illustrious? Something more simple, like Linzi the Great? Hm… Maybe Linzi the Indecisive. | „ |
Linzi is a companion in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. She is a chaotic good halfling bard.
Biography[]
Linzi originally hails from a small village in Galt, where she was born into a farming community with very low levels of education. She was taught to read by a wandering priest, whose stories sparked her interest in heroic tales and learning in general. Later she would run away from home, joining a book merchant named Tessie the Quill until parting ways with Tessie to study at the Academy of Grand Arts in Pitax. Linzi has mixed feelings when reflecting upon her time at the Academy – while she remembers several professors as brilliant, she rankled under the restrictions placed upon the faculty and students by Irovetti. It is eventually revealed that Linzi was often bullied by her fellow students. Linzi's time at the Academy came to an end when she was expelled for a book of satirical limericks mocking Irovetti (a copy of which can be obtained by the player from several sources).
She decides to join you because she wants to record your story – she believes that history has suffered from a lack of proper recording at the time of the occurrence of events, and hopes that your deeds in the Stolen Lands will be notable enough for the epic she imagines.
Interactions[]
Linzi may join your party at the end of the prologue, if you make the good aligned choice in conversation with Jamandi Aldori. If she doesn't join you in the prologue, you have a chance to recruit her later with a successful Diplomacy check in the Ancient Tomb or by rescuing her from the Kobolds under the Old Sycamore. Once she joins it's impossible to get rid of her, even through death. Since the beginning of chapter 2 she can always be found at the council table in the throne room (even when she's not an advisor) – suitable for the party chronicler. Storywise, she is strongly recommended to have in the party at least in the first playthrough, otherwise her special ending will be wasted.

Role in the party[]
Bard is arguably the best support class in the game. With her high enough Intelligence, 4 base skill ranks per level and every skill a class skill, Linzi is a great "skill monkey". She won't break any record for damage score, so don't try to turn her into a killing machine, just give her a crossbow and be done with it. But Linzi will make everyone better in the fight and at the skill check with her bardic performance (Lingering Performance is the first feat to take). She can fascinate owlbears, make all enemies shaken (without a save) and frighten them. Her Grease and Hideous Laughter spells will keep you for a long time, she gets Heroism a level earlier than wizards, and Good Hope is the best low level buff in the game. Also Linzi is a renewable source of optimism and enthusiasm (if a bit annoying sometimes), and she plays a nice song.
Trivia[]
- Although Linzi considers herself an excellent writer, several other companions call into question the quality of her prose during camp banter and suggest that it is in fact somewhat amateurish.
- Linzi is responsible for the character blurbs on all loading screens, which filter character profiles through her own personal ideas about the character in question.
- Linzi greatly admires Jubilost, often asking for his opinions on things or remarking on his accomplishments during camp banter. She is undeterred by his mockery.
- Linzi's favorite foods (ice cream, pancakes and mince pie) are sweet.
- On occasion, Linzi admits that she embellishes her narrative for entertainment value instead of reporting the exact truth.
