Sable Company Marine is an Archetype of the Ranger class in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

Description[]

Sable Company marines receive their training at the elite Endrin Military Academy in Korvosa. A large portion of their education is the handling and riding of hippogriffs, the iconic mounts of members of the company.

Hippogriff Companion

At 1st level, a Sable Company marine gains a hippogriff as a mount instead of choosing the hunter's bond class feature at 4th level. This ability functions like the druid's animal companion ability, and the marine's effective druid level is equal to his ranger level.

While the Sable Company marine is mounted, he also attacks the target of the hippogriff's flying attack, as a full-round action. Ranged attacks made in this way do not provoke attacks of opportunity.

The target is considered flat-footed against the Sable Company marine's first attack made as part of the flying attack.

Animal Companion — Hippogriff

Size: Large

Speed: 40 ft.

AC: +4 natural armor

Attacks: bite (1d6)

Ability scores:

Special qualities: flying attack, immunity to ground-based effects, such as difficult terrain.

At 7th level, a hippogriff gains Dex +2, Con +2, 2 claw attacks (1d4), and the heavy landing and pounce abilities.

The Strongest Wings

At 3rd level, a Sable Company marine teaches his mount to perform a new combat maneuver. As a standard action, the hippogriff can create 2 strong gusts of air with its wings and perform a bull rush combat maneuver twice with a bonus to CMB equal to half its level against targets in a 30-foot cone.

If any of these combat maneuvers are successful, the affected targets become flat-footed against the next attack.

Feathered Confusion

At 12th level, a Sable Company marine trains his hippogriff to use its wings for more than just flying. The hippogriff's wings grant it a +3 dodge bonus to AC against melee attacks. While mounted, the Sable Company marine receives this bonus as well.

The hippogriff's enemies treat a 5-foot area around the hippogriff as difficult terrain.

Sable Strike

A Sable Company marine of 20th level knows how and when to attack his favored enemies. If the target of the flying attack is the marine's favored enemy, both the marine and his hippogriff automatically score critical hits on their first respective attacks made as part of the flying attack ability. The critical multiplier for these attacks is increased by 1.
