Our daring ruler has never met such a danger! An Eldest named the Lantern King has taken the entire kingdom into the First World, and left it to the mercy of the shadows that that escaped the broken Apology! What's worse, {name} is now cursed, and this curse affects all {his/her} loyal followers. The {King/Queen} is bonded with the kingdom, and will die along with it! What should we do? It's not that easy to face a demigod!
The {King/Queen}'s allies, advisors and loyal servants are scattered, almost all of them under assault by ominous shadows that appeared from the broken cup. To lift the Lantern King's curse we need to find our allies and save the crumbling kingdom!
What remains of the capital guard is fighting off bandit shadows near Oleg's Trading Post. We must defeat the enemy and return our soldiers to the {King/Queen}'s banners! The liberation of Oleg's Trading Post will surely lift a part of the Lantern King's curse. (+30720xp)
In Varnhold, Maegar Varn is fighting Vordakai's shadow, which appeared from the broken cup! We must help him! The liberation of Varnhold will surely lift a part of the Lantern King's curse. (+30720xp)
Vordakai is fighting the shadow of Maegar Varn, who has come to take revenge on the frightening cyclops near the walls of Varnhold. We must help our undead ally! The liberation of Varnhold will surely lift a part of the Lantern King's curse. (+30720xp)
There is a battle being waged between Brevoy's army and the shadows of fallen barbarians on the Flintrock Grassland. Helping our Brevic allies will surely lift a part of the Lantern King's curse. (+30720xp)
Oh, that King Irovetti! You just can't have too many limericks about him! His shadow escaped the cup and decided to take up reign in Pitax again. We must stop him and protect our governor! The liberation of Pitax will surely lift a part of the Lantern King's curse. (+30720xp)
Tsanna, the priestess of Lamashtu, went to the Shrine of her goddess, to seek help and perform her bloody rituals. She might need help in the insanity that's ensued! (+30720xp)
The Eldest has settled in our capital — right in the royal residence! To watch the performance, as he put it. Hell no! We'll get him sooner or later!
From the three Eldest, Nyrissa and the {King/Queen} learned that the curses put on them by the Lantern King can be reversed to target him. Nyrissa is preparing the curse, but first we'll need to defeat the Eldest in battle!
Our invaluable colleague, the blind Storyteller, has discovered a way to weaken the malicious Lantern King! First, we need to find the fragments of Nyrissa's cup, the Apology, and deliver them to the Storyteller. They must be somewhere in the city...
We found the first fragment and brought it to the Storyteller
The kingdom is crumbling, and its {king/queen} is dying along with it. We don't have much time left!
“
It's over! We won, of course. The curse has been lifted, and the kingdom has returned home. In a few more moments, and I'll be writing the words "The End". How exciting! Incredible! Of course, I've often imagined incredible adventures and battles against the gods and true feats of legend... but imagining it is one thing, and seeing it really happen right in front of you is quite another.

Walkthrough[]
You get 20 days to complete this quest, 15 days if NyrissaAttackCounter is 75 or more.
Your party will be cursed to a fraction of their power.
It is not recommended to do any level ups while you still have the curse, as feats and abilities may bug out and you won't get them.
You will not be able to rest freely except at the Storyteller.
Reach a safe place[]
Fight your way to the south where the Storyteller is and exit the map.
Lift the Lantern King's curse[]
If you have Tsanna or Bartholomew Delgado as advisors, you will have additional journal entries to save them.
You will be able to visit several locations throughout the exit point.
While going through the portal you will get one of the 8 unique texts, two of them will make you waste 6 hours. After all 8 are exhausted you will be getting 9th repeatable one.
You can actually pick your destination, but cancel at party selection screen, this way you can get rid of those hour-wasting texts early. However it's not recommended if you pre-buffed before going to this chapter.
It is strongly recommended to do Oleg's Trading Post, Varnhold, Flintrock Grassland and Pitax first, because they are the ones that will lessen the effect of The Lantern King's curse.
After speaking to them, The Stag Lord Shadow will arrive and initiate dialogue. You will have to fight him and some bandits.
The Stag Lord will teleport to the west at the start of the fight. After he drops to 50% health, more bandits will spawn at the west and east of the trading post.
Talk to the NPCs and exit the map. This will lessen the effect of the curse by one step.
The area is covered in the fog and requires Magical Lantern to pass freely.
The only thing that changes with phases is the south part where you can meet wither a group of Ankou (HATEOT) or Faerie Dragons. The latter are not hostile.
In the north you will meet your Brevoy allies, talking to them will initiate several waves of barbarian attacks after which effect of the curse will lessen by one step.
If Lander Lebeda was your envoy and you let him be resurrected, then you can either kill him with (Chaotic Evil) option, ask him to help you in battle ahead or dismiss him.
Killing barbarian shadows in the east will make Armag or Dugath appear if you appointed one of them as Tiger Lords tribe chieftain. Talking to the chief will make him help you in the battle ahead.
Bartholomew Delgado can be saved here if you had him as an advisor, otherwise you will only find his corpse.
You can either dismiss him with (Chaotic Evil) or (Chaotic Good) option, or ask him to help in battle ahead with (Neutral) or non-aligned line.
If you have spared either Tartuk or Hargulka, they will be friendly here. If you killed them both, you will have to fight their shadows and their subordinates.
If you saved Zzamas before, it will help you in the fight.
If Tartuk or Hargulka was your vassal, you can ask him to help you in the battle ahead.
If Tartuk was your vassal you will be able to recruit him as companion with [Neutral-only] choice, but this will not activate his group's help in Ravaged Capital.
Equilibrium (Quest) will begin after you have removed the curse, you need to either tell Storyteller that you are ready to go to Ravaged Capital, or walk around the camp to trigger the event.
You will be stuck with companions you take in your party until the end and you won't be able to replace them or get new ones, even if they died and you have no Scroll of Resurrection.
If you accepted Tsanna's offer you can talk to Evindra and either lead her into the trap with (Chaotic Evil) option, or warn her of the danger with (Neutral Good) option.
First you will meet, depending on your alliances, either Maegar Varn and General (if alive) fighting some Wild Hunt, or Vordakai who kills the Wild Hunt in cutscene.
In the south if you got Armag or Dugath's help they will join you in the fight, but that will cause only more Wild Hunt to spawn.
The island at southwest can be accessed only with Dimension Door spell.
At the west side you will meet your Brevoy allies (if any), picking up Fragment of the Apology (Second) will initiate several waves of enemies to attack.
If you appointed one of the Pitaxians as your governor he will be present here with some guards, but that will also cause some Wild Hunt to spawn.
Darven will help you here if befriended. Linxia will NOT help you here, even if you successfully allied with her order.
Ruined Throne Room can be accessed only if you give all three Fragment of the Apology to Storyteller. It's recommended to rest and fully buff up when you are ready to go there.
Defeat the Lantern King[]
Enter Ruined Throne Room. When you approach middle of the room a short dialogue with The Lantern King will trigger, after which the battle begins.
If you allied with Nyrissa (either Good or Evil) she will aid you.
The Lantern King appears to have at least Fire Resistance 30 in all forms, even if it is not listed on his character sheets.
When The Lantern King is defeated all his current minions will die and the next Phase's form will spawn in the original spot, regardless of the current form's location.
Phase 1: Remus[]
“
Oh yes, the time has come. The time of fate and curses.
He teleports around and most of the time casts Dominate Monster, most likely on your player character. Although sometimes he can buff himself with spells like Mirror Image.
The Lantern King will start a game of words in which he attempts to take your essence away just like he did with Nyrissa.
On the first question you have the following choices:
Auto-success dialogue line if your current alignment is the same as the line you told Old Gnome back in the Other World when he asked you why you crave the crown.
If you failed at least one of the checks you will get debuffed with Immolation Curse (The Lantern King's curse makes the target vulnerable to both fire and divine damage.)
If you are not alone he will kill all your companions (which also means they will lose all the buffs) and give you five alignment-restricted choices for each alignment type.
No matter what you pick you will resurrect and restore your party to full health and your party gets Champion in the Game of Words (You have played a game of words against the Lantern King – and won! You gain a +4 sacred bonus on Fortitude, Reflex and Will saves.)
Then the last phase begins.
Phase 5: The Lantern King[]
“
Good. You can play with words. Let us see if you can withstand the heat of my fire!
Furious Assault (The Lantern King charges to the target and deals 5d12 Fire and 5d12 Divine damage to all targets along the way and knocking them prone. Reflex save to halve the damage and negate knockdown effect.)
Finale[]
“
Defeat. What a refreshing feeling. I don't remember sensing it for a dozen millennia…
After The Lantern King is defeated in his true form final dialogue starts.
He will offer you immortality and position as his herald, you have several options how to end this, which will change Ending Slides.
[True Ending] If you did everything to unlock True Ending then choose "Nyrissa, it's time! Do just as we planned!" line and then do any alignment-restricted dialogue choice of all 5 types.
[Herald] Choose "I will accept the Lantern King's offer, but only to save you, Nyrissa. Life in peace is better than eternal war... even if it's a life apart." line if you failed to complete So Shall You Reap or choose "Eternal life and power? The patronage of the Eldest? I like this reward." which is available in every case.
[Evil Nyrissa] Keep your alliance with Evil Nyrissa by choosing "I'll take Nyrissa's offer. Immortality and salvation for my kingdom — but with nothing to do with you, Eldest."
[Neutral] If you don't want to deal with the fey politics then choose "I will not bow to you, Eldest, don't get your hopes up. Here is my offer: lift the curse, return my kingdom to Golarion, and forget we exist. And I will forget that you exist."
Other options either give more information or lead nowhere.
After the choice is made Ending Slides will play. See Kingdom page for full text on ending slides and conditions on how to activate them.
