The Unmaking is a Harrim's quest in Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Journal[]

Harrim warned the Skjegge clan dwarves that attempting to get inside the desolate fortress of their ancestors would not end well. Of course they didn't listen – and of course he was right! What did they find, and what trouble did they bring upon themselves? We don't know yet! But one thing's for sure: we're the ones who will have to handle all this.

The throne room has never seen such a guest! – Squeaking and swaying, a golem came lumbering in! It was only able to say the word 'help' before collapsing into pieces. Harrim immediately concluded that this was a messenger from someone we know – the dwarves of the Skjegge clan, who we once saved from an uncontrollable golem. Now he wants to visit them again – dreaming of saying how he warned them, no doubt.

Something very strange is happening at the fortress. The gate is wide open, the dwarves are dead or scattered, and golems are wandering the grounds, mumbling nonsense. What's going on? We need to find out!

Harrim made a difficult decision in the desolate dwarven fortress. What does he think about what happened? We should talk to him about it.

Harrim didn't really want to meet the dwarves – living ones or ghosts. But the encounter made him reevaluate himself and his past, and even his creepy god. I'm not sure if I should be happy for him or worried about his mental health...

Walkthrough[]

Set off for the Lost Dwarven Fortress[]

Look within[]

  • Enter the inner part of the fortress.
  • After a short dialogue with (Lawful Neutral), (Neutral) or (Chaotic Evil) alignment choice you get to fight two Adamantine Golem (The Unmaking) and two more will activate and join the fight when initial ones get killed.
  • After the battle you will have to decide what to do with the fortress. The decision array depends on how many gems you have given to Jarmuld Skjegge in Unbreakable Metal.
    1. [0] (Neutral) or [1] (Neutral Evil) Ally with Offeld Skjegge.
    2. [1-2] (Neutral Good) Ally with Jarmuld Skjegge.
    3. [0-2] (Chaotic Neutral) Destroy the fortress.
      • You will get "Madness" Ending Slide for Harrim.
      • You will automatically exit the area and won't be able to return and loot things. So if you want the loot from the chests at the throne - loot them during the fight with golems!
      • Destroying the fortress was supposed to give Harrim permanent buff Revelation (Greater understanding of Groetus's teaching gives Harrim access to the features of Madness Domain.), but it doesn't apply, presumably due to a bug.
If you play with experience gain settings where your Main Character may have higher exp than Harrim - choosing to destroy the fortress will get Harrim boosted up to MC's amount of experience if "Only active companions receive experience" is set to off.

Talk to Harrim[]

    2. Allied with Offeld: (Lawful Neutral), (Neutral), (Chaotic Neutral), (Lawful Evil)
    3. Allied with Jarmuld: (Lawful Good), (Lawful Neutral), (Neutral), (Chaotic Neutral)
