“ | Having decided to take a shortcut, [Baron Varn's party] find themselves in an area with strange furrows which criss-crossed the ground here and there. Barn Varn and his companions are cautious, and approach unnoticed as a young centaur whoop and leap from one furrow to another. |

The first choice is the player will have the option to call out to the young centaur, which if done will inadvertently save them from a burrowing monster attack, otherwise they will be severely wounded by the creature. During the attack, a DC 20 Lore (Nature) recognize the creature as a bulette.
Afterward, passing either a DC 20 Mobility or Stealth check, will mortally wound the bulette before it can kill the centaur. Failure results in the death of the centaur and the escape of the creature.
If successful, the party can then finish off the creature for a reward of 90 experience, Bulette Bone Plates, and Diamond Dust (x11), or allow it to flee and die on its own.
If the centaur was wounded, the party has the option to heal him (requiring a healing spell or potion) or let him die.
If the centaur survives, the player may either pump him for more information on centaurs, or not interrupt which only elicits the centaur's nickname, Roiko. You are rewarded with 900 experience.
